Delegation of Bordeaux is invited to the Forum
Governor of St.Petersburg Valentina Matvienko invited Mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppe to take part in the St.Petersburg International Innovation Forum
At the
meeting with the Mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppe in Smolny on 30th
June, which took place within the framework of the Days of Bordeaux in
St.Petersburg, Governor Matvienko invited delegation of the French city to take
part in 3rd St.Petersburg International Innovation Forum.
Bordeaux is one of the sister-cities of St.Petersburg (since 1991), situated on the South-West of France and world famous for its delicious wines. Another pride of Bordeaux is its local football club, which is quite successful on the French fields, having won the national championship in 2009, and at the European championships as well.
City’s main industries: oil refining, engineering, chemical industry. One of the leading companies in Bordeaux is “Route des Lasers”, a holding company specialising in optics, laser technology and photonics. Local research is well developed within materials technology, biotechnology, electronics and IT, with ca. 10 000 people involved.
