Bordered by both the Neva River and the Fontanka River, Central St. Petersburg is unusual because it is not dominated by towering skyscrapers or modern structures. The tourist attractions here are generally old and in keeping with the grandeur of this historic city, with many truly wonderful buildings clustered in this part of the city, particularly around both the Field of Mars and also the Summer Garden.
Many people are attracted by wonderful St/Petersburg suburbs - Peterhof, Pushkin (Tsarskoe Selo) and Pavlovsk.
Peterhof is s the kingdom of fountains and one of the most beautiful of St. Petersburg's suburbs. There you can visit the Hermitage pavilions, the Marli, three fountain cascades, the Upper Chamber, the palaces, the Monplaisir and other fountains, St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral or Peterhof's parks...It's a marvelous sight!

Main features of Pushkin are the Catherine Palace and great park complex.
Pavlovsk is a third imperial residence after Peterhof and Pushkin. This is a small town, just a mile or so from Pushkin, inside it situated park and palace of Emperor Paul the First.

Being Russia's political and cultural centre for 200 years, the city is often called the Northern Capital of Russia. During all the history people name this city "the Venice of the north" and the "Northern Palmyra".
Besides, many foreign consulates, international corporations and organisations, banks and other businesses are located in Saint Petersburg. It is the greatest economical centre of Russia and an important Russian port on the Baltic Sea.
St. Petersburg is a home for many international events like St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, international summits (in 2006 St. Petersburg became the home for the Summit G8) many international exhibitions, sporting competitions (for example, International competitions on fencing, skiing or swimming), days of foreign cultures and different meetings, festivals.
So, this city is the great place for III St.-Petersburg International Innovation Forum.
